National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship program of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, aimed at developing the personality of students through community service and volunteerism. Established in 1969, NSS operates under the motto “Not Me, But You,” promoting selfless service, social responsibility, and collective action.

The NSS symbol is inspired by the ‘Rath Wheel’ of the Konark Sun Temple, Odisha, representing the cycle of life. The 24 spokes signify 24 hours of the day, symbolizing constant readiness for service. The red colour reflects energy and enthusiasm, while navy blue represents the vast universe, highlighting NSS’s commitment to the welfare of mankind.
