Eligibility & Admission Criteria
The admission process for the 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy) program is centrally regulated by I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) and is based on academic merit in the qualifying examination.
Minimum Academic Qualifications
Candidates seeking admission to the 1st year of the B. Pharmacy program must fulfill the following educational requirements:

Entrance exams or selection process
Admission to the B. Pharmacy (4-year) program at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) affiliated colleges is primarily managed through a centralized system based on academic merit.
Basis of Admission (Selection Criteria)
The selection of candidates for the 1st year of the B. Pharmacy course is made strictly based on the following:
- Inter-Se-Merit in the Qualifying Examination: Admission is granted based on the relative merit (percentage marks) obtained by the candidate in the 10+2 (Higher Secondary) qualifying examination.
- Merit Calculation: The merit list is prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in the following subjects of the qualifying examination:
- Compulsory Subjects: Physics and Chemistry
- One Optional Subject: Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Technical Vocational Subject.
Note: As per the latest IKGPTU notifications, there is generally no mandatory separate common entrance test (like a specific state CET or JEE Main) for B. Pharmacy admission. The 10+2 merit is the primary selection criterion.
Pharmacy Lateral Entry (2nd Year Admission)
Admission to the 2nd year (3rd Semester) of B. Pharmacy is also merit-based:
- Eligibility: Candidates must have passed a Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
- Selection: Admission is based on the inter-se-merit in the qualifying D. Pharm examination.
